Should you invest in Axis Aggressive Hybrid Fund via SIP or Lumpsum?

There are multiple ways in which you can make an investment in Axis Aggressive Hybrid Fund. The traditional way to invest is by making a one time lump sum investment in the scheme. A one-time lump sum investment is generally made by the investment right at the beginning of the investment cycle. This way, investors using the Mutual Fund App can purchase more units at one go, depending on the fund’s existing NAV. However, if the NAV of the fund is high, lesser units will be allotted. Also, since aggressive hybrid funds predominantly invest in equity and equity related instruments, investors end up exposing their entire investment amount to volatile markets right from the beginning.

A Systematic Investment Plan is another way of investing in not just aggressive hybrid funds, but almost all mutual funds. Commonly referred to as SIP, this is an easy and convenient way to invest at regular intervals and preferred by those who do not have a large surplus as the principal amount.

That’s not it, here are some of the reasons why you should consider investing in Axis Aggressive Hybrid Fund through SIP:

One time mandate

Investors have to just complete a one time mandate with their bank after which they can start investing in Axis Aggressive Hybrid Fund via SIP. This saves investors from the hassles of manual investments. They do not need to visit the fund house manually to make their monthly SIP investments. After the one time mandate, the money will be auto debited from their savings account and electronically transferred to the fund.

Decide how much you want to invest

Another sweet thing about SIP investments is that investors get to choose how much they want to invest on a monthly basis. Investors can choose a small investment amount that they are comfortable with. An amount that will not affect their standard of living and something that they can afford to invest every month without having to worry. However, the amount should equal to or be more than the minimum investment amount mentioned in Axis Aggressive Hybrid Fund’s offer document.

Power of compounding

When your investments start earning capital appreciation, and this capital appreciation on the capital appreciation earned from your investment, your money will start multiplying, thanks to the power of compounding. However, compounding only works for long term investments so if you want to better from this eighth wonder of the world (referred to by few in the mutual fund industry), then you need to start a SIP as soon as possible.

Long term wealth creation

Those who have a long term investment horizon generally succeed in their investment journey. These individuals understand the fact that avenues like mutual funds aren’t going to help them with wealth creation over a short term. This is why if you are investing in an equity oriented scheme like Axis Aggressive Hybrid Fund, you should make sure that you have the time and willingness to stay committed for the long run. Now you already know how compounding works and if you want to see your money multiply, you will have to have patience and a long term investment horizon. Look at the bigger picture and aim for long term wealth creation while investing in aggressive hybrid funds.

Rupee Cost Averaging

Rupee cost averaging is a unique investment technique that allows fixed instalments like mutual fund SIPs to benefit in the long run. Since the monthly SIP amount is stagnant, investors receive more units when the NAV of the fund is low. Similarly, when the NAV of a fund is high, the investment amount is adjusted and lesser units are allotted to the investor’s portfolio. This allows investors to make the most out of the constant market movements and offers mitigation of risk.

The above stated were some of the reasons why one must consider starting a SIP in Axis Aggressive Hybrid Fund. However, the fund is suitable for investors with a moderately high risk appetite. So it is better that investors consult their financial advisors before investing in this fund.
